The Development History of Cable Trays
2025-11-24 00:56:48

With the advancement of modern science and technology in China, the manufacturing technology of Powder-coated cable tray factories has continuously innovated. Enterprises have strengthened quality management, further improving their production technology and creating favorable conditions for the industry's development. The application of cable tray technology in wiring for numerous dense cable circuits has significantly increased the number of cables that can be accommodated. It not only protects cable lines but also effectively mitigates drawbacks such as electromagnetic interference and fire hazards, bringing convenience and benefits to cable construction and installation.

The development of cable tray technology in China began in the 1970s and 1980s, with many advanced technologies introduced from abroad. Along with the development of domestic industries such as petrochemicals, light industry, electrical engineering, and metallurgy, cable trays gradually became popular in these sectors. As a high-tech solution, cable trays have been widely adopted, replacing the previous practice of single-section steel welding and cable bracket assembly in China. This has laid the foundation for the development and application of various fully plastic cables.

The Cable Tray Industry: A Pillar Industry in China

Over the past 20 years, China's cable tray industry has achieved an average annual growth rate of over 30%. Currently, the total industrial output value of the industry exceeds 30 billion yuan, surpassing that of the United States, making China one of the world's largest cable tray producers.

There are various perspectives on the industry's past development; here we focus on the economic aspects:Data released by social and economic research centers indicates a huge market capacity for cable trays, with 90% of industrial enterprises having clear demand for them. The market scale reached 100 billion yuan in 2010 and has maintained an annual growth rate of approximately 20% since 2011.

In 2010, China issued new national standards for cable trays. These standards specify the definition, model designation, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, transportation, and storage of cable trays for electrical control and distribution. Applicable to indoor and outdoor cable trays in industrial and civil buildings, as well as high-low voltage power transmission and distribution projects, the standards have further standardized the cable tray industry. High-quality standards represent a new manifestation of product standardization.
